My Certification Students had a treat last week and this week with Sherri Haab coming in to teach us! We learned electroforming, electrical etching, photo/ITS transfers and resin clay. I was a little caught up with creating my own projects in-between packing and moving my house, so I only got a few photo's of my own jewelry. They turned out great!
This interview is great from start to finish! Her story, jewelry, talent and great attitude about teaching children that there are all kinds of people warmed my heart. The only limits we have are the ones we place on ourselves! On a side note: I also have a huge crush on her Durston Rolling Mill in the background...
Melissa Muir has a great studio! My Certification Students and I were excited to go play with her multiple hydraulic press's for a few days. We created domed shapes, anti-castic and synclastic cuffs and learned lots of new skills! Thanks for having us Melissa! You can take some of her classes in my studio, check the class schedule here for what's coming up soon!
Martin Sexton and I have been friends for many many years now, well, he just met me for the first time. He is an artist that is openly grateful to be doing what he loves and sharing it with the world and I love that about him. His music has always gotten me to sing and dance along and I was quite excited to get to go back stage and get a picture with him after his show at the Canyons Resort in Park City. I don’t know how my arm ended up over his shoulder but I like that we look like old pals since he has been in the soundtrack of my life for as long as I can remember! If he is ever in your area he is a show you will not want to miss! From one artist to another, thanks for inspiring me Martin!
Have you heard of Pinterest yet? What the bleep is Pinterest you say? Well similar to the movie "What the bleep" that came out in 2007 it is a new social sharing site that has quantifiably captured my interest! Unlike Facebook that seems to just suck hours out of my day that I would rather have back. Pinterest has inspired me to try new foods, organize "my box" (it WAS a 3 foot by 3 foot overly packed and taped together so-I-could-keep-building-up box that everything seemed to end up in, including important papers that had no right to be put in there in the first place! I am happy to report that it has been annihilated!) I also have a new organized place online to pin jewelry ideas, house ideas, and garden ideas. It is amazing. I have even started a board for wedding ring ideas for my wedding ring workshop that I offer. You can pin anything you find anywhere online to your "boards" and also follow your friends boards and all the cool things they are pinning about DIY stuff, fashion ideas, travel ideas, kid stuff, and on and on! Try it, I think you will like it. You can look around without joining but you have to be invited to join to start "pinning" so if you get on and catch the bug send me an email and I will invite you through my Pinterest, don't worry it doesn't make us attached in anyway unless you want to follow my boards and I can follow yours! As they say, "Happy Pinning!"
My boards are here! And you can find the movie "What the #$*! Do We Know!?" on Netflix, I highly recommend it!
If you have never heard of TED talks I suggest you get on YouTube and check them out! They have short informative, inspirational and amazing talks from speakers from all walks of life talking about every subject under the sun. I have the coolest friends, so cool that a few of them were asked to be speakers for the TED event in Utah! I feel so honored to have these women, Tiffany Peterson, Shantel McBride and Judee Guay as part of my tribe! Dino and Shannon are dear friends of mine that are relationship experts I listen to. I have spent some time with Randall also and loved his message, LOVE Kevin Hall's book "Aspire", and Gerald Rogers is someone I pay attention to. Have a look!

It's a question I always like as an icebreaker at the beginning of a class to introduce everyone to each other. Having students for more than 2 hours in my studio always gets me excited and gets the creative juices flowing. I have a very large file of jewelry ideas on my computer and stacks (and more stacks!) of books and magazines I have collected over 10 years now to peruse. It keeps me on top of my game because I am always trying to pack as much value and fun into each class so I can become a better teacher in the process. It is fun to see how strangers come together and get into the creative spirit together and make a connection through the process. And tonight was the beginning of another creative adventure!
I get so focused teaching that I forget to take photos but I did take this photo of my mom and I after we finished a puzzle at her house! After the Christmas tree comes down the puzzle table goes up and I can't stay away. She will call me and say "I have a puzzle up, you want to come over?" I have always loved puzzles and you can't leave me alone for too long with them or I finish them without you. I am a good one to call if you get stuck but I tend to not take my coat off thinking I will only stay for a few minutes but then I can't leave until the job is done. We always take a photo with the puzzle and write the start and finish dates and who participated on the inside of the box and then pull out another one! I have lots of photos of me with puzzles throughout the years... but most of them are on film because we only recently got my mom to convert to digital! That is something not too many people know about me, I love puzzles.
It was like Christmas when I discovered a box from UPS on my porch yesterday! I was so excited to get my hats and the whole presentation once I got the outer box open was fabulous! They come in a hat box with her logo and pink tissue and care instructions with the hat, it was beautiful! Of course re best part is my new custom fitted hats that are made with gorgeous fabrics and beautifully lined! I am so hat crazy now! Terry Graziano is the bomb! I LOVE wearing my new sassy hats!
Silversmith and teacher of refined jewelry arts, basically that means I am obsessed with metal and passionate about teaching!
