There has been one thing on my bucket list/ vision board for longer than I want to admit and I finally decided to do it! Climbing Timpanogus, one of the highest peaks and the most majestic mountains we have here, sounded like the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of my 37th year! My oldest son Carlin said that he would join me and so we ventured out in the morning and spent the day making the 7.4 mile (14.8 round-trip), 4,389 elevation climb to the top! It was amazing, and a half mile from the top on the rocky stair like slope I thought, "I am glad I only said I wanted to do it once!" It was pretty intense but worth it. Standing at the top at 11,749 feet was amazing, the fall colors were spectacular, the company was great and I love my Lady Timp even more now. When I got home I hobbled in and took a long 2 hour, steaming hot epsom salt bath while I watched a movie and considered the day a great success. Now only a few days later I am wanting to climb it again and I am eyeing a few more tall peaks that surround this beautiful valley.
Some of my favorite shots:
The vultures were circling because we looked like carcasses, well, we felt like them anyways. This was at the saddle, a mile and a 700 foot vertical climb from the top!
